Surrounded by an acre of English gardens, the Simpson House Inn provides romantic, secluded accommodations minutes caway from downtown Santa Barbara's restaurants, theaters, museums and shops. The historic, Eastlake- style Victorian estate is set behind tall hedges, where guests will find mature oaks, magnolias, fountains and numerous sitting areas across expansive lawns. Within walking distance of the inn are the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, the Santa Barbara Courthouse and Gardens, and the activities on State Street.
The Simpson House features 15 rooms with an elegant 1874 Victorian home, a restored 1878 barn and three garden cottages. Each guestroom includes generous amenities and warm inviting décor and furnishings. Fully restored and modernized, the inn now offers complimentary wireless Internet access, in-room massage and facial services, and complimentary bicycles, English croquet, and beach equipment. Meeting and banquet facilities are available.
The five Main House rooms vary in size, but each has authentic Victorian wallpaper and antique furniture. One room includes views of the gardens and mountains from a private deck, while another features a claw-foot tub and a brass shower.
A stone pathway leads guests to the Garden guestroom, featuring a private patio with teak furniture, large French doors, antique pine floors and Oriental rugs. The four guestrooms in the Old Barn each include a loveseat by a wood-burning fireplace and antique furniture. The three cottages each open onto a private intimate fountain courtyard. They also feature antique canopied queen featherbeds and an in-room Jacuzzi tubs.
Other guest services and amenities include gratuity-free service, a full gourmet vegetarian breakfast, evening Mediterranean hors d'oeuvres buffet featuring local Santa Barbara wines, bicycles, fine bath products and cozy robes, TV/VCR/DVD with a vast movie collection and popcorn, Santa Barbara trolley pass, morning newspaper, and complimentary passes to the nearby Santa Barbara Athletic Club.
